A pale green fruit the size of a small olive, growing on a straggly tree across the Australian north. It carries one of the highest recorded natural concentrations of vitamin C of any fruit in the world — many times that of an orange by weight. It has been eaten and used by Aboriginal peoples of the Top End for many thousands of years, long before it was measured in a laboratory.
