A cousin of the tea plant, grown not for its leaf but for the oil pressed from its seed. In East Asia it has been a cooking oil and a hair and skin oil for centuries — in Japan it is tsubaki, the oil that kept sword blades from rusting and hair from breaking. It is very high in oleic acid, which is why it sinks in rather than sitting on top.
