Noni is a small evergreen that grows where almost nothing else will — lava flows, salt-sprayed coast, bare coral sand. It fruits continuously, and the fruit is famously unpleasant to be near. What we use is not the fruit at all, but a lysate of cultured plant cells grown from noni tissue, which means no fruit is harvested to make it.
