The power of plants

The plant

The name means flower of flowers, and the tree earns it: long drooping yellow-green petals that release most of their scent at night. The flowers are picked before dawn and distilled in fractions — the first fraction off the still, ylang extra, is the finest and the most expensive, and each later one is progressively coarser. It is one of the few oils sold by which part of the distillation it came from.
